Ginger (Zingiber officinale) oil is extracted from the root of the flowering plant used around the world for millennia. Ginger, cousins of turmeric, cardamom and, somehow, banana, originated in the Asian rainforests and made its way to Europe during the ancient spice trade. We love it in ginger ale, ginger bread and ginger nuts, but the essential oil is high in hair-loving vitamins, while also antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. Spicy and woody, ginger oil clears airways and heads with ease.
Fact drop: Confucius says, “eat ginger with every meal.” Because 2500 years ago, the Chinese scholar ate ginger every day for a long, thoughtful life.
